Harrision Goodman suffered an instant setback to the penultimate round of the Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge at The Bend, but he fought back strongly.
The Bob Jane T-Marts driver qualified ninth in the Friday afternoon session, but unfortunately, did not make it to the track for Saturday's first race.
Goodman was struck down with a bout of food poisoning, and even spent some time in hospital to help him recover.
Starting from the back of the grid, Goodman raced up to 12th, before picking up even more spots in the 22 lap endurance finale, finishing seventh.
Goodman said that despite the mid-weekend illness, he was pleased with his speed in the Bob Jane T-Marts Porsche that was also sporting its Movember charity promotion.
“Qualifying was good, but I didn’t string a lap together though, which was disappointing as I had the pace to be at the front,” Goodman said.
“Unfortunately I missed Race 1, I was sick overnight and I wasn’t able to compete.
"I gathered it back up for Race 2 and made up plenty of spots, which I was happy with. The long race was good, though I struggled towards the end and it was a pretty good weekend considering how it started.
“Obviously we put Movember on the car, with the moustache. A huge thank you to Bob Jane T-Marts for helping us and if you’d like to donate go to my social media channels to find the link.”
The season concludes at the Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit for the Bathurst International on November 17-19.
