Bob Jane T-Marts on the Pro-Am podium in the Top End

    June 18, 2024

There was success in the Top End for Bob Jane T-Marts at Round 3 of the Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship at Hidden Valley Raceway.

Marcos Flack, Angelo Mouzouris and Rodney Jane upheld the Bob Jane T-Marts/Sonic Motor Racing Services in Darwin, with the boss taking second in the Pro-Am Class for the event.

Mouzouris qualified 12th and made progress to be ninth in Race 1 before dropping to 13th in the second event. Contact in the final race hurt his charge as he ended the weekend in 16th.

“It was a pretty tough weekend here at Hidden Valley,” Mouzouris summarised.

“We didn't really have the pace on Friday and Saturday morning for qualifying, so I really didn't get to the spot where we wanted to.

"We had a really good race pace, which was awesome. I managed to get the car. where should it be. In Race 3 was a bit of a bummer. I was in the top 10 and, competitor decided to drive into the side of me, destroying the right of the car.

“We roll on to Sydney. We love that track and the track's good there, so can't wait for it.”

For Flack’s maiden weekend, it proved one of steady improvement as he qualified 15th and scored 12th in the first encounter. Flack elevated further to 10th in Race 2 and repeated his opening race result of 12th in the final.

“Absolutely loved the weekend,” said Flack.

“It wasn't exactly the result we wanted, but I can't really complain. I love coming to Darwin every time I come up here with karting and I love the same racing Porsche up here also.

“I think we made some improvements over Taupo here in myself and I think they'll relate to Sydney next. So I'm hoping to come back stronger in Sydney.”

Scoring Pro-Am podiums in two of three races in Darwin handed Jane second for the weekend in what was another strong class performance. Second in Races 1 and 3 were split by a spin in the middle event as Jane recovered to fourth.

“I seemed to have some luck in Darwin this weekend,” Jane reflected.

“Last year I ran out of luck in the final race, but this season finishing second was great.

“I made a couple of mistakes in the second race, which were disappointing. Overall, the car was really good and I enjoyed the run.

“I was really glad to be up here in Darwin, It's a great track. I really enjoy it and I’m really looking forward to going to Sydney.”

The next round for the Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship is at Sydney Motorsport Park on July 19-21.
