The newly renamed Shell V-Power Motorsport Park continued to be a happy hunting ground for Bob Jane T-Marts' Porsche team for Round 4 of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship.
Simon Fallon continued this strong form, qualifying sixth for the opening race and made gradual progress, finishing fifth.
The longer endurance followed on Sunday and Fallon made a great start to challenge the leading duo for the duration of the 20-lap contest to finish third.
Maintaining third for a majority of the shortened seven lap encounter until a challenge for the lead went awry for one of the leaders allowing Fallon to end the weekend second.
“It wasn’t a great start to the weekend, but I was happy to end it on a high, finishing up second for the round and two podium finishes today,” Fallon said.
“I’m really thankful for the Sonic crew and all their hard work this weekend. Sonic has been great in getting the cars up into the window and up to the front.
“I’m looking forward to the next round at Sandown to see what we can do.”
Angelo Mouzouris experienced a mixed event at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park, but displayed his speed early during practice to finish second on Friday.
Finishing qualifying 11th after getting baulked on his fastest lap, Mouzouris dropped back to 13th at the end of Race 1 and was 17th after avoiding early drama in the endurance event on Sunday morning.
The final race of the weekend featured plenty of action at the start, but Mouzouris avoided this to enter the top 10 and finish the round in seventh, building confidence ahead of a big end to the season.
“It was a pretty promising start, we had plenty of speed in practice, but in qualifying we unfortunately got stuck behind another competitor, which resulted in my best lap being baulked,” Mouzouris said.
“We had to start out of 11th, but in that part of the field there’s heaps of argy-bargy going, so we dropped back a couple of positions in that race.
“We had a killer start in Race 2 to be up in ninth or eighth in a couple of laps before we got pushed off the track completely and got sent to the back of the field.
“Race 3 we got to show the speed. We started in 18th and finished seventh at the end of the weekend."
The team's Pro-AM ace Rodney Jane enjoyed a solid event in Pro-Am where he qualified seventh in class, then moved to fourth during Race 1 to set up a podium in third during the 20-lap endurance contest.
A spin at the start of the final race halted his charge while leading Pro-Am as Jane still recovered to sixth.
The next round of the Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup Australia Championship is at Sandown International Motor Raceway on September 15-17.
